For the guys, Noah had a strong finish to place in the top 25, going sub-21 for the second time this year. Robert finished 15th with a lifetime-best time of 19:07--inching ever closer to breaking the 19-minute barrier. And Nathan was the 8th-fastest freshman in the race--finishing exactly in the middle of all varsity runners.
One of my favorite moments of the day was watching Jacey make a move at the one-mile mark. After a sub-nine-minute first mile, she passed me then made a move unlike any I've seen all year. I counted as she passed SEVEN runners within one stretch of about fifty yards--then held them off the rest of the race for a season-best time of 17:57. Daniel finished in front of more runners at this race than he has at any race all season. In fact, the percentile in which he has finished has improved at each and every race so far this year. Michelle finished a minute and a half faster than she did at Tuesday's race and ran a much more evenly-paced race than she did at Mendon, completing her overall best race of the year. And Lauryn finished in 1st place out of all 66 sixth-grade girls with a blazing time of 13:45.
Thanks to the parents who provided food, rides, photography, tents, beverages and support at the meet. Overall it was a fantastic finish to a wild and eventful two weeks. It's now time for some much-needed recovery as we take a breath and gear up for "championship season" in mid October. Way to go Rams!
