First they ran; then they raked! A group of kids, whom I assumed were members of G-A high School's Cross Country team was running down the sidewalk in front of my house on Battle Creek St. in Galesburg on Tuesday, October 22nd about 3:30pm, heading east toward town. A short time later they were running back. Then they returned but this time with rakes in hand. About 16-18 members of the team including their coach, G-A Middle School teacher Dave Hocker, made light work of leaves as they laughed, talked and raked leaves to the street in front of seven houses that day. My neighbors and I were happy recipients of good fortune "just because" the G-A Cross Country team was demonstrating community service and spirit on a brisk October afternoon. Thank you!
On a completely unrelated note, is there someone who would be willing to volunteer to put together a slideshow for the banquet? I know Mr. Chatman and I both have plenty of pictures to contribute. Let me know if you are able and willing.
Oh, and in other exciting (?) news, we are hosting the KVA championship meet next year!
