The 7th grade girls continued their dominant streak as Lauryn, Hannah and Jacey finished 1st, 2nd and 7th. Lauryn's comfortable win allowed her to cruise to the finish in first place while saving some energy for Saturday's big meet. Hannah ran her fastest 2-mile of the season (14:11), inching ever closer to the 14 minute barrier. Jacey ran her 2nd-best time of the season.
Sam was the first of G-A's middle school boys to finish, and was the 7th-best 7th grader overall. Daniel ran his fastest mile split of the season and Zack's finishing time was 37 seconds faster than he had ever run before.
In the 6th grade race, Faith was the first G-A girl to finish. Megan was just behind her after cutting 28 seconds off of her previous best time. Both girls finished in the top 15 of the race. Aleigha and Madison both had enormous improvements and season-best times. Aleigha's time was 50 seconds faster than her previous best and Madison's was 1:13 faster.
Last year, Nathan ran his best time of the season at Schoolcraft, and the course was good to him again tonight. His time of 19:01 was the second-best time of his life and good enough for a top-20 finish. The high school girls completed what is an absolutely outstanding feat, as every single girl ran her best time of the season. Huge improvements were made by Gina (1:00), Sierra (:50), Leah (:35), and Ashley (:32). Sierra was G-A's 2nd runner and earned her varsity letter, Gina was G-A's top runner and finished 14th overall. Her time puts her in the top 25 in the region this season. Emily, Megan, Ashley, Sierra and Gina all recorded career-best times in the race.
As a team, the girls finished the first two jamborees in 6th place. Today, without Whitney or Rachel, they finished in 5th place. The team is definitely running well and is poised for success throughout the second half of the season.
