After establishing that he belonged on the state's biggest stage, Ryan headed to the discus circle where he fit right in with the state's best throwers. He was the top thrower in his prelim flight once again, and qualified for the finals with ease. After six clean throws, Ryan earned all-state status in another event, this time with a 6th place finish. His best throw of the day was 147-5.
At the end of the day, Ryan can now say that he is an all-state, school-record holder in not one but two events. And the most exciting thing about that is the fact that he is only a junior. In fact, only one non-senior beat Ryan in both events, and in both cases it was only by several inches. He will return next year as one of the top two throwers in the state. His goals will be even loftier, and his experience from today should help him on his way to achieving them. Congratulations Ryan on one of the finest seasons a G-A athlete has ever had!
